Arrangement of color sequence in color printing

in color printing, how to reasonably arrange the sequence of color overprint is an important topic for process technicians. An important role of printing is to reproduce the original manuscript artistically, which requires printers to have certain artistic appreciation and the ability to master the expression of color changes. Improper arrangement of color sequence may lead to color deviation, color mixing and reverse overprint of printed matter; The scientific arrangement of color sequence will make the color of printed matter closer to the original, and even strengthen a certain color atmosphere, so that the level is clear, the point is clear, the overprint is accurate, and the color is true, natural and coordinated

there are three reasons why the color sequence needs to be arranged: the ink can gradually improve the influence of the dispensing pressure overprint and the shortcomings of the ink pigment itself, the quality of the paper, the description of the color by the human eye, the better the matching between the instrument and the industry, and the recognition ability. The most fundamental reason is the incomplete transparency of the printing ink itself, that is, the hiding power of the ink itself. The ink of post printing has a certain covering effect on the ink layer of pre printing, so that the color of printed matter always focuses on the performance of the latter color, or the mixed color of post color and pre color

the starting point of choosing color sequence is to flexibly arrange the color sequence according to the specific situation of the original, combined with the current process conditions, taking into account the main aspects (such as tone reproduction, color reproduction, graphic clarity, printing uniformity and printing repetition rate, etc.)

the following principles of arranging color sequence are for the reference of colleagues

1. Arrange the color sequence according to the contents and characteristics of the original. Printing is a means to express the graphic design of the layout, and the emotional elements embodied in various colors are also different. Therefore, the arrangement of color sequence must first consider the content and characteristics of the original. When designing the graphic layout, you often have chosen the tone of the layout color. This tone represents the overall feeling of the whole tone, and becomes the color that dominates and regards it as the source of success when printing. In terms of color, those with red, orange and yellow as the basic tone are called warm tones; Those with green and blue as the keynote are called cold tones. Due to the hiding power of the ink, generally, the warm tone is first printed in black and blue, and then in magenta and yellow; Magenta is printed first, then cyan, mainly in cold tones. Everyone hopes that the ripe watermelon pulp is red, and they don't want to see the printed matter appear purple and green. Different color sequences lead to different color deviation effects. Therefore, the colors that need to be strengthened in the color atmosphere of the picture can be placed in the last color printing

2. Arrange the color sequence according to the transparency of the ink. For the ink with good transparency, after two colors are superimposed, the color light of the lower ink layer can pass through the upper ink layer to achieve better subtractive mixing and show the correct new color. If the yellow ink used is transparent yellow, the transparency order of the four inks is: Yellow magenta red cyan black. Generally speaking, but if you use graphene film, you can print it first with ink with poor transparency, and then with ink with good transparency

3. Arrange the color sequence from the advantage of overprint. Due to the objective defects such as paper deformation and expansion, we can arrange the main colors of prints with high overprint requirements to be printed in two adjacent color groups. For example, the two-color machine can be arranged to complete the printing in the same unit at one time, so as to avoid the problems of paper expansion and contraction caused by the existence of paper. For large-scale field work, post printing can be arranged to avoid problems such as getting dirty during paper handover. In addition, the monochrome machine overprints the second color after the first color is "dry", while the multi-color machine is a process of "wet pressing wet", so the viscosity and inking amount of ink should be controlled. That is, it is very important to arrange the printing ink with high viscosity to be printed first and the printing ink with low viscosity to be printed later, otherwise it will cause the disadvantage of reverse overprint

4. Arrange the color sequence considering the nature of the paper. For paper with poor quality, considering its low whiteness and smoothness, loose fiber, poor ink absorption, and easy to lose powder and hair, yellow ink can be printed first to make up for the above defects of the paper. When printing at night, weak color ink with low lightness should not be printed in the first color due to human eye recognition. The brightness order of the ink is: white, yellow, orange, green, cyan, red, blue and purple

5. Consider the process factors such as plate making. When printing, the line angles of two adjacent color groups differ by at least 30 °, which is conducive to preventing color deviation, moire and other ills

6. Consider the color order according to the cost. Cheap black and green inks are printed first, while high price magenta and yellow inks are printed later

generally, the picture dominated by a large area of scenery (the cold key is the keynote), with black, magenta, green and yellow as the color sequence. Black is arranged to be printed first, and black is used to draw the outline, so as to facilitate the overprint of other colors. The final printing of transparent yellow can be used to adjust the brightness of the whole picture to form shiny and bright colors. Generally, the picture (warm tone) dominated by characters adopts the sequence of black, green, magenta and yellow. The ink with poor transparency will not cover other colors. Magenta and yellow afterprint make the faces of the characters ruddy, colorful and lifelike

color printing is a process combining technology and art. When we arrange the printing color sequence, we should consider it from the artistic point of view, which can make the printed matter more artistic appeal and meet the needs of readers
